Again, why are they separate operators when better solutions exist? I do like the alters like Lava where it's a more veteran version of the operator as that can be used to expand on the character in a natural way, but again both Lavas are separate operators which sucks. New operators must take up a new operator slot, cluttering up the operator page even more, along with the inability to select both of them for one squad. What sucks even more is that there the Amiya alter mechanic is a really elegant solution, which for some unknowable reason is exclusive to her. Why would I want an alter for an existing character when we likely have very little knowledge about them? The reason alters work the likes of FGO is because the main characters that get alters have been explored at length, whereas Arknights does not have anywhere near the same level of development for its characters.
Just because they have been normalised within gacha does not make them a good thing. My biggest grievance with all this is that alters are becoming standard affair and I detest them. Occam's razor would point us to them not giving a shit, they didn't bother to address community concerns, why would they bother changing their future plans now? Here we see the other issue with no official response: it gives rise to rumours and speculation. Why do you think they are in a panic? We have no information for arguing that point.
